Steve Anseth, CPA

Partner, Nonprofit Leader

Steve brings expertise and passion to nonprofits throughout Minnesota.

In his role at Abdo, Steve leads the firm’s nonprofit segment. Prior to going into public accounting, Steve spent nearly 15 years working for a large nonprofit organization, giving him the experience that helps him understand his clients’ organizations from the inside out. He has an in-depth understanding of how—and why—nonprofits operate. Steve is passionate about helping nonprofits succeed by improving their operations and internal controls.

Steve joined Abdo in 2013 and has more than 25 years of experience working in and for nonprofit organizations.

Steve enjoys public speaking, and regularly presents at events for the Minnesota CPA Society, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, National Business Institute, and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council.

Steve enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children. Their favorite outdoor activities include hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, rollerblading, and playing hockey.

What would you be doing if you weren’t an accountant?

Professional hockey player of course! Or more likely a software engineer.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Most anything outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, roller blading, biking, etc.

What was your first job growing up?

The first job I had with an actual paycheck was at a gas station, pumping gas and washing windshields. Yes, I really am that old.
