Loran Hillesheim, CPA

Loran brings over 25 years of tax experience to Abdo’s clients. He specializes in providing tax and advisory services to businesses and individuals, and is responsible for the firm’s individual, corporate, and partnership tax practices.

Loran is known for his ability to handle the tax aspects of highly complex business transactions. He helps his clients understand the implications of the information he’s giving them so that they can take action on it. He offers big picture thinking and advising that allows business owners to stay on top of changing tax issues.

After earning a B.S.B.A. in accounting at Drake University in 1982, Loran became a licensed CPA in 1984. Three years later, he received his Masters in Accountancy and Taxation from the University of Houston, and in 1990 Loran completed the testing and education requirements necessary to become an Accredited Personal Financial Specialist. Loran is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Loran and his wife Jan have two daughters, one in college and one in high school. Both Loran and his wife are active in the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church and enjoy family weekends at their cabin in Outing, MN. Basketball and golf keep Loran active year round.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy playing basketball, golf, going water skiing, wake surfing, fishing, and playing video games.

What was your first job growing up?
A dishwasher at Gannon’s Restaurant in St. Peter, Minnesota.

What’s your favorite part about being an accountant?
I appreciate the challenge of digging into a complex question or problem for a client and coming up with the best solution to fit their needs.
