Abdo’s Sage Intacct practice helped transform operations and revolutionize Oak Management’s business integration and efficiency
Oak Management and Development Company is a family-owned property management and development company comprised of 17 storage facilities, two commercial properties, and an art storage and transportation business. When the multifaceted operation outgrew its accounting software, the team at Abdo stepped in to help.
Problem
Founded in 2015, Oak Management and Development Company has grown to serve roughly 6,000 customers across the Twin Cities metro. In 2023, the company found itself needing more than its current accounting software could provide.
“We had also outgrown our property management software, and we realized our accounting software wasn’t able to integrate with the new software we were considering,” Oak Management Senior Accountant David Bruneau explains. “To complicate matters further, we also had a separate software platform for our art storage and transportation business.”
David and the Oak Management team knew they were at the point where having multiple, unintegrated software platforms could negatively impact the company’s operations. “We had lots of puzzle parts we needed to bring together,” he says.
Having connected with Abdo at a networking event, the Oak Management team turned to Sage Intacct Advisor Geniene Scherer, CPA, for help.
Solution
Sage Intacct is a financial management and accounting software that offers businesses a tailored solution for streamlining and integrating multiple software platforms. Once Geniene and her team assessed Oak Management’s situation, they quickly began guiding David and his team through the implementation process.
Implementation
The overall goal was to streamline Oak Management’s financial and property management systems. This change also involved switching to a new accounts payable provider and making adjustments to some of Oak Management’s processes.
David recalls that he particularly appreciated the Abdo team’s ability to find solutions. “Through it all, Geniene and her team did a wonderful job of guiding us through the implementation,” he says. “Their deep knowledge of the Sage Intacct software was incredibly helpful—they were able to answer any question I had.”
Results
Prior to implementing Sage Intacct, David and his team were spending a great deal of time importing the company’s daily data transactions. Now, with Sage Intacct’s ability to streamline, automate, and integrate with the company’s other software platforms, he estimates the team is saving 15 hours on this task each month.
David also mentions his newfound ability to bring data into Sage Intacct. “This has allowed us to view transactions and invoices in real time and make changes as needed, which is a big win,” he says.
Finally, David notes Sage Intacct’s ability to integrate well with other providers, such as ADP for instance, has given Oak Management the versatility it needs to improve its efficiency as it continues to grow.
