Jacob enjoys partnering with clients to simplify complex business challenges - finding resolution and success as a team.
Jake always aspired to be a small business owner, just like his dad. He ventured into public accounting with a plan to one day own his own business, while gaining experience and working with business owners in the meantime.
Jake joined the firm in 2015 as he completed his Master of Accounting degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In his time with the firm, Jake has developed a vast amount of knowledge in the area of partnership tax. He particularly enjoys working through the complexities and the inherent opportunities that come with these entities and getting the opportunity to explain a concept in a way that a client with no specific expertise in that area can understand.
An outdoorsman, you can often find Jacob hunting, exploring the woods, or spending time up north at the family cabin. He loves working with his hands and the creative process involved in planning a new project. He sees many similarities between his approach to building a new coffee table in the garage and the planning process that he uses with his clients – from the initial organization to the very last steps.
Jake and his wife, Karlee, have two children, Carson and Maymie. They enjoy spending time at the park, the pool, and building Lego towers together only to be knocked down within seconds of completion.
What would you be doing if you weren’t an accountant?
Building something – houses, furniture, or anything in between. I love working with my hands and experiencing the satisfaction of taking a project from an idea all the way to a finished project.
What was your first job growing up?
Mowing lawns. Each spring I would advertise at the local hardware store to pick up enough yards to stay busy for the summer.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My dad has been the biggest influence in my life. From shared hobbies to frustratingly similar mannerisms, I attribute a lot of who I am to being his shadow as I grew up.
A professional photo is the only way we can get a great family picture because it takes a miracle worker behind the camera to get two toddlers to look at the camera and smile at the same time.
