PRAIRIE HOLDINGS GROUP: PART OF THE FAMILY

 What we heard from Donna Tims, CFO of Prairie Holdings Group…

Worthington, Minnesota-based Prairie Holdings Group is comprised of 11 businesses that range in focus from pork production to information technology. The company was founded in 1994 by two veterinarians who shared a desk—and a vision—and has since grown into the region’s agribusiness headquarters. The company employs more than 120 Minnesotans and does business across 40 states and Canada.

Abdo, Eick & Meyers began working with Prairie Holdings Group in 2007. “We wanted someone who could do more than simply produce financials and tax returns,” recalls Chief Financial Offer Donna Tims of the decision to hire Abdo, Eick & Meyers. Since then, the firm has guided Prairie Holdings Group through its annual tax returns and reviews, and has assisted with several special projects.

Prairie Holdings Group is a highly complex organization with multiple companies operating in-house. In her role as CFO, Donna oversees the accounting functions of each one. She is grateful for the high level of service and expertise Abdo, Eick & Meyers provides. “From offering a template for month-end checklists to making suggestions for how to improve efficiencies, we’re always confident in their work,” she says. “They treat each company as if it were their own.”

Donna says that, above all else, she enjoys working with the Abdo, Eick & Meyers staff. “They are professional and pleasant,” she says. “We consider them to be part of our family.”
