IRS Online Account Update

February 23, 2022

If you want to register for an IRS Online Account, you’ll no longer be subjected to the use of biometric data, including facial recognition. According to the IRS, taxpayers now have the option of verifying their identity during live, virtual interviews with IRS agents. With an Online Account, taxpayers can, among other things, access tax records, make payments and create payment plans. Those who desire still have the option to verify their identity automatically through the use of biometric verification provided by ID.me. However, be aware that the IRS will soon transition from ID.me to using Login.gov as an authentication tool. Contact the Abdo tax team with questions!
