CHRISTINE POWERS RECIEVES VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE GREATER MANKATO AREA UNITED WAY

Mankato, MN – February 8^th,2013 – Christine (Chris) Powers, CPA, Business Manager at Abdo, Eick &
Meyers, LLP has received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Greater
Mankato Area United Way.  The award is
given each year to an individual who best displays an unwavering commitment to
advancing the mission of the Greater Mankato Area United Way.

Powers has served the Greater
Mankato Area United Way Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the past
six years, Chris has served as Board Chair, Finance Committee Chair and
Treasurer/Secretary, and has also volunteered on the Human Resources Committee
as well as the “Women with Heart” Committee, and will be the 2013 “Women with
Heart” Committee Chair.

“Chris has dedicated countless hours mentoring our staff and helping us
to achieve the highest standards of fiscal responsibility and stewardship for
our United Way.” Said Laura Bowman, President of the Greater Mankato Area
United Way.  “She has been a key factor
in re-invigorating our Finance Committee, jumping in to make changes and
re-vamp processes, and unwavering in her commitment to advance our mission as a
loyal supporter and mentor.”

Powers
joined Abdo, Eick & Meyers in 1997 and specializes in working with
businesses and nonprofits for tax, accounting and consulting services. She
excels with consulting on software issues, tax advice, cash flow management,
budgeting and planning.  Chris is a
graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato.  She is also a member of the Minnesota State Society
of Certified Public Accountants (MNCPA) and the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA).
