Abdo, Eick & Meyers is Selected as Co-Sponsor For AICPA’s PCPS George Willie Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarship & Internship Program

February 2, 2021

EDINA, MN | February 2, 2021 – Abdo, Eick & Meyers is excited to be one of 10 US firms participating in the AICPA PCPS George Willie Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarship & Internship Program.  As a co-sponsor of this program, we will host an ethnic minority accounting student in 2022 to work alongside our CPAs and advisors. Interested candidates can review eligibility requirements and apply on the AICPA website until April 16, 2021.

The program provides a scholarship and internship to 10 minority accounting students who are pursuing CPA licensure to help with tuition, up to $10,000, for their final academic year. Selected AICPA Private Company Practice Section member firms each sponsor a student for an internship in 2022. The program’s namesake, George Willie, was a tireless advocate for ethnic minorities pursuing a career in accounting. Throughout his more than 35 year career, he served as chair of the AICPA’s PCPS Executive Committee and the AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee.

At Abdo, Eick & Meyers, we recognize the need for continuous improvement in diversity and inclusion initiatives. In 2020, all employees attended a series of diversity and inclusion education and training sessions provided by the Greater Mankato Diversity Council. We strive to continue growth and work towards greater equity and diversity.
