ASSOCIATIONS: THE VALUE OF GETTING INVOLVED

October 17, 2013

Industry and professional associations provide a valuable forum for networking, sharing ideas, and learning. For Abdo, Eick & Meyers, these associations also provide ample opportunities for listening. Here are a few things we’ve heard about the firm’s involvement.

Abdo, Eick & Meyers is currently involved in more than 15 industry and professional associations. To determine which associations to join, the firm surveyed its clients: Which ones did they value? Where did they go to get answers?

One of the associations Abdo, Eick & Meyers recently joined is the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). “When we first became a member we asked how we could help,” recalls Business Development Manager Don Kreye. “To start, we served on committees and attended events. It was a great way to get to know the association.”

Today, Abdo, Eick & Meyers serves on the NARI board and has even presented at association events. NARI President-Elect Andrew Schmidt says he grateful for the firm’s support.

“From the start, they met with our leadership to better understand our challenges and how they could help advance our mission,” he says. “They also made commitments by having representation on two committees, attending meetings, and actively participating in our events. They are the type of firm you hope to have as associate members!”

A non-industry specific association the firm has been a part of is the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce. “Being an active member of the Chamber has allowed us to stay current with what’s affecting our clients,” explains Don. Like NARI, the Chamber, which is the state’s largest and premier business advocacy organization, is appreciative.

“They are truly a member that has made a difference to our organization and our constituents,” says Chamber President David Olson. “Their commitment to and involvement in the Minnesota Chamber not only benefits their firm, but the other 2,300 business members across the state.”
