Phillip (Phil) enjoys creating order out of chaos. His client service process starts from the ground up with how entity structure can help to meet client goals with consideration of tax efficiencies. Partnering with clients to navigate these important distinctions allows him to truly understand the organization and help to guide leaders on the path to success.  The largest area of Phil’s practice includes syndicated multi-family investments for both value-add investments and real estate development.

Phil focuses on income tax advisory services and he enjoys navigating the various tax options in real estate holdings and business operations. He says the planning of tax is always secondary to comprehensive strategic planning, so he works closely with other advisors on the Abdo team to make sure the overall client structure makes sense economically and at the same time minimizes tax burden. He enjoys collaborating with other professionals to exchange ideas, consider alternative solutions for business tax issues, or discuss different perspectives.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. Most of our US travel is in the western part of the US in the mountains of Arizona, Colorado, or Utah, taking a break from the busy city life.

What was your first job growing up?

Working at my family bakery at the age of 12 and riding along to deliver and set up wedding cakes and working in the scullery.

What’s your favorite part about being an accountant?

Creating order out of chaos. Being able to navigate clients’ wishes and develop a structure for them that is economical and tax-efficient.
