Matt helps his clients incorporate best practices like cash flow management, budgeting, and tax planning into their daily operations.

As the father of a young athlete, Matt is usually found on the side of a soccer field or basketball court rooting her on or taking her to the park to practice. At work, he enjoys coaching his clients to help them navigate the various challenges they face to successfully meet their business goals. As a partner, he focuses his practice on helping business owners incorporate best practices, such as cash flow management, budgeting, and strategic planning into their daily operations.

Since joining Abdo in 2007, Matt has provided tax, audit and business consulting solutions to a range of clients but has developed a specialty of working with professional services firms. It’s a role that suits him well: He briefly majored in engineering in college (he jokes that a class called Deformable Body Mechanics changed his mind), so he appreciates the opportunity to stay involved in the field.

When he’s not on the sidelines, Matt stays active by playing softball or getting out for his daily run.

What would you be doing if you weren’t an accountant?

I would love to work at a car dealership. I’m one of those crazy people that loves car shopping. I love researching and comparing the different options for each vehicle and negotiating the price.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy watching my daughter play sports and running.

What’s your favorite part about being an accountant?

I love helping my clients solve problems they can’t solve themselves. Usually, it’s a complex tax situation that I can help a client understand, or help them build and eventually sell their business.
