Darin enjoys a challenge. He finds satisfaction in helping his clients understand complex compliance procedures and working with them to strategize for their future(s).

Working primarily with businesses in the manufacturing, banking, real estate, and construction industries — in a wide range of services — Darin is also a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is experienced in a variety of forensic accounting, consultation, and litigation support engagements. He has successfully helped clients build more robust internal controls to prevent fraud, worked to reconstruct transactions after the fact, and served as an expert witness during litigation.

Darin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Master in Professional Accounting degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined Abdo in 2015 after working at a small firm in Austin, TX. Darin is a member of industry organizations and sits on the board of the Twin Cities’ chapter of  Precision Metalforming Association.

Darin and his wife love spending time together with their two young children. He also enjoys running, biking, and traveling with his wife to places like New Zealand, Fiji, Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and Scotland.

What would you do if you weren’t an accountant?

It would be fun to be a blacksmith and make something with my hands and tools.

What was your first job growing up?

My first real job was an usher at a movie theater where I would clean the lobby and theaters after movies ended.

What’s your favorite part about being an accountant?

I enjoy the variety of issues that come up and the different ways in which I can help clients. It’s a much more diverse field than most people realize, and it makes coming to work everyday fun and challenging.

This is my wife and I (pre-beard!) at Hobbiton in New Zealand where they filmed the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
